In the same year, she started her PhD within the program in Sustainable Development and Climate Change, Cycle 39. Her research project focuses on exploring the potential of alginate, a polysaccharide derived from biomass, as a versatile building block for the development of novel and eco-sustainable biomaterials. These materials are studied for their possible applications in a broad range of fields, including biomedical devices, sustainable packaging, and functional surface coatings.

Anna Palmieri – PhD Student – apalmieri@unisa.it
Biologist by training and naturally driven by curiosity and exploration, I am currently pursuing a PhD in Supramolecular Chemistry.
My research investigates how chemistry can draw inspiration from nature to design molecular systems with potential therapeutic applications. Specifically, I focus on the synthesis and characterization of prismarenic-based systems for biological use.
I am particularly interested in exploring the interplay between molecular design and biological function, and how supramolecular principles can be leveraged to develop innovative functional scaffolds.
